Wisconsin is reportedly set to hire Paul Chryst as their new head coach just days after Gary Andersen left to become the Oregon State head coach. Chryst has been the head coach for the Pittsburgh Panthers the past 3 seasons and he is a former Wisconsin assistant. Athletic director Barry Alvarez will also coach the Badgers for their bowl game against Auburn on New Year's day.

The Arizona Cardinals are currently 11-3 and the top seed in the NFC after a 12-6 victory over St. Louis on Thursday, but they could be down to their 3rd-string quarterback as Drew Stanton left the game in the 3rd quarter with a right knee injury. The extent of his injury is unknown at this point, but Ryan Lindley would be in line to start if Stanton can't go next Sunday in a key divisional matchup against Seattle.

The San Diego Padres made a big statement at the MLB Winter Meetings on Thursday as they acquired MVP caliber player Matt Kemp in exchange for Yasmani Grandal and pitcher Joe Wieland. The Dodgers won't be getting much value in return for a player that has as much star power as Kemp, but the Padres will at least take on $76 million of his $107 million salary.

The New York Yankees might have found their new starting shortstop as they acquired Didi Gregorius from the Diamondbacks on Friday in a 3-team trade that also included the Detroit Tigers. Shane Greene was dealt to Detroit and starting pitcher Robbie Ray went from the Tigers to the Diamondbacks. Gregorius specializes on defense and he will likely become the everyday player at shortstop for the Yankees in 2015.

Andrew Miller was arguably the best relief pitcher in free agency this offseason and he will be heading to New York as he agreed to a 4-year/$36 million contract with the Yankees on Friday. It is the largest contract in MLB history ever given to a relief pitcher who hasn't had experience as a closer. Miller's free agency value really went up after he had a terrific 2014 season in which he went 5-5 with a 2.02 ERA for Boston and Baltimore.

Struggling Lakers take on San Antonio.

Struggling Lakers look to salvage a win against the Spurs

It has been a miserable season for the Los Angeles Lakers so far as they are 6-16 on the season, but they will look to take down one of the best teams in the western conference when they travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs tonight at 9:30 PM ET. San Antonio is 10 games above .500 and they are looking to keep pace in the highly competitive southwest division. The Lakers will need production out of somebody else besides Kobe Bryant if they want to have any chance to defeat the defending NBA champions tonight.
